VLCmediaplayer操作非常簡單的媒體播放器，支援多種音頻視頻格式（MPEG-1,
MPEG-2,MPEG-4,DivX,mp3,ogg...）和主流媒體協定。最具特色的功能是可以邊下載
邊觀看Divx媒體檔案，並可以播放不完全的AVI檔案。

VLCmediaplayer是一款完全免費、影音品質高的DVD播放軟體，它能夠支援時下絕大
多數的影音檔案，例如.avi、.mpeg、.rm、.mp3、.mov……等常見的影音格式
，就連必須連上網路進行播放的串流媒體通訊協定（mms://）它也能照撥無誤。其他如
影片的亮度調整、色彩飽和度的微調的功能，也都在它的支援之列。至於詳細的檔案格
式支援列表，由於程式仍屬於更新頻繁的階段，因此會不斷解決部分格式不相容的問題
